Individualized Positive Psychosocial Intervention Protocol

Individualized Psychosocial Positive Intervention (IPPI) protocols assist direct care staff in leading one-to-one activities matched to preferences of older adults living with dementia. Preference Based Living is developing a protocol for each preference addressed in the Minimum Data Set-Section F-Preferences for Customary Routine and Activities. IPPIs provide step-by-step instructions to carry out each activity, including prompts for conversation. IPPIs can occur in a short time period using available materials. Research has demonstrated the positive impact of IPPIs on wellbeing for older adults with dementia.
