Dr. Katy Abbott presented at the 13th Annual Conference on the Science of Dissemination and Implementation in Health. The presentation, titled “Build that relationship, that’s where it all begins”: Staff Perceptions on the Implementation of a Person-Centered Communication Intervention, highlights findings from a recent study assessing the implementation of Preferences for Activity and Leisure (PAL) Cards in Ohio and Tennessee nursing homes. PAL Cards are a novel person-centered intervention that leverages preference information gathered using the Preferences for Everyday Living Inventory (PELI), a tool to communicate a nursing home resident’s important preferences to care team members. The PELI promotes personalized care, prompts meaningful conversations, and deepens relationships between residents and staff. The Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR) was utilized as an a priori coding scheme to identify factors associated with effective implementation.
